Welcome Trade Show Marketers,

Back in our May issue we asked for your opinion on several aspects of your professional exhibiting life.  You responded – better than in any of our previous surveys.  This month we are reporting the results.

We also asked for your input about tips for better trade show marketing.  Again you responded in record numbers.  Many of your valuable insights will be shared in the months to come right here in Trade Show Tips.

Look for more details about the survey in next month’s issue when we gather a summary about what makes your job difficult.

And, oh yeah, there was mention made of a drawing among the respondents for one of three iPod Shuffles.  The winners are announced below.

Please read on and enjoy!

Results from Our Readers’ Survey

In this year’s survey we received 784 completed responses and along with them came 540 tips to help with better exhibiting practices.  The table below shows how the respondents broke out in terms of their experience in the industry and the booth size their company uses.  Percentages are using category totals.

The proportion of exhibitors who work in backwalls, 10’ x 10’ to 30’, is 77% and those who report using island exhibits, 20’ x 20’ and larger, is 23%.

As in past years we asked you to tell us which topics associated with trade show marketing were of most concern to you.  In the summary table below we have ranked your responses.  The top 3 categories remained unchanged from the 2006 study.

Measuring Results continues to rule the roost as the most oft-mentioned concern – the pressure for increased accountability in all areas of marketing continues.  Creating the right promotions to fill your exhibit and fulfill your goals is nearly tied in importance with Setting Objectives that produce Measurable Results.

One noteworthy observation is that Exhibit Design rose two places in the rankings versus last year while Budgeting fell two places.  Could it be that we are becoming more concerned about the fun part of exhibiting?

Over the next year we will use this information to guide our editorial projects to be sure that we continue to deliver the most useful tips and tactics to you.  Thank you for your tremendous response and ongoing support.

2007 Readers’ Survey Drawing Winners
