“Give Peace a Chance” Charity Raffle

Official Rules/REGULATIONS

 

1.       The purchase price of a single raffle ticket is $100. VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover payments are accepted at time of purchase. Checks or money orders should be made payable to IPPNW.  If the bank dishonors an entrant’s check or credit card charge, the entry ticket will be declared invalid. Payments (ticket purchases) are not tax deductible.

 

2.       Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Winners need not be present at drawing in order to win prize.  Employees of IPPNW and their immediate family members are ineligible. 

 

3.       Grand Prize winner will receive a cash prize of US$10,000.00 (ten thousand US dollars). 

 

4.       The Grand Prize will be drawn on January 23, 2008 at the offices of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Inc (IPPNW) at 727 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139.  IPPNW reserves the right to change the date of the drawing if 100 raffle tickets are not sold.  Chances of winning are determined by the number of tickets sold and distributed. A minimum of 100 raffle ticket sales is required for the drawing but total sales will not exceed 200 tickets.

 

5.       IPPNW will receive 100% of the profit raised by the sale of raffle tickets to support the educational and operational activities of the organization.  Founded in 1980, IPPNW is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, which received the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize. 

 

6.       The $10,000 Grand Prize will be considered ordinary income for tax purposes as per the IRS and Massachusetts Department of Revenue. The winner agrees that all applicable taxes or fees are his or her full and complete responsibility. The winner may be required to pre-pay a portion of the tax liability prior to receiving the prize.

 

7.       Prize winners grant IPPNW permission to use their names and prizes for promotional purposes.

 

8.       Per IRS ruling, the purchase of raffle tickets is not considered a gift and does not qualify as a tax-deductible charitable contribution.

 

9.       IPPNW reserves the right to reject any entry forms that are submitted with payment that does not constitute “good funds.” Defective entry forms will be disqualified by IPPNW and any individuals and/or entities that submit such entry forms will be notified of the rejection as soon as practical under the circumstances. It is the responsibility of the entrant to comply with any federal laws or regulations as well as any specific to the state in which the entrant resides. In the event of a dispute of the rules of this raffle, the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will preside.

 

10.   IPPNW assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected or undelivered mail. 

 

11.   This raffle is being conducted pursuant to Massachusetts General Law (M.G.L.) C.271, S. 7A and every effort has been made to conform to local, state, and federal laws. Permit to conduct raffles, in conformity with C.810, Acts of 1969 issued to IPPNW by the city of Cambridge on August 27th, 2007.
